Search Your Old AI Chats From Claude

Last updated October 23, 2026

You worked something out with ChatGPT in March. Now you're in Claude and you need it again. Normally that means opening another tab, scrolling a sidebar, and pasting the answer back in.

With the ChatAtlas connector, you ask Claude instead: "What did ChatGPT tell me about my sourdough starter?" or "Find the chat where I planned the garden beds." Claude searches your ChatAtlas archive, reads the conversation that matters, and answers with where it came from.

What you need

  • A ChatAtlas account on the Pro plan, with some conversations in it (from the Chrome extension, or imported from a ChatGPT or Claude data export).
  • Claude on any paid plan, or any other AI app that takes MCP connectors (custom connectors).

Set it up

  1. In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector. (If ChatAtlas is listed in Claude's connector directory, you can add it from there instead.)
  2. Paste the address https://chatatlas.pro/mcp. ChatAtlas Settings → Connected apps shows it too, with a copy button.
  3. Claude opens a ChatAtlas sign-in page. Sign in, read what Claude will be able to do, and choose Allow.
  4. That's it. In a new conversation, ask Claude about something from your old chats.

What Claude can and can't do

When you ask, it can:

  • Search your saved chats from every platform, by words or by meaning.
  • List your chats by platform, date, folder, project or tag.
  • Read a saved conversation, message by message.
  • See what you've been talking about lately.

It can't:

  • Change, move, share or delete anything in ChatAtlas.
  • See your password, billing or API keys.
  • Read chats from anyone else's account.

Every tool is read-only. Claude reads your archive only when you ask it something, and what it reads becomes part of that conversation with Claude. The privacy policy has the details.

Things to ask

  • "Search my old chats for the kitchen remodel estimate."
  • "What have I been talking to AI about this month?"
  • "Compare what ChatGPT and Claude told me about the lease."
  • "Find the chat where I decided on the logo colors and quote what I said."

Disconnect

Remove the connector in Claude's Settings → Connectors, and disconnect it in ChatAtlas Settings → Connected apps. Either one stops it.

Prefer to keep everything on your own computer?

ChatAtlas Local is the free, open-source version. It imports your ChatGPT and Claude exports into one file on your computer and connects to Claude Desktop, Claude Code and other local AI apps. Nothing goes online. It searches by words; the hosted connector also searches by meaning and keeps chats from every platform in sync.
